So this is a topic that I get my geek on with and thought it would be useful to share what Albert and I do to live below our means (insert David Copperfield reference here), with frugal living tips and ideas of how to create your own budget if it’s not something you’ve done already.
We’ve managed to make a budget, stick to it (!!) and live below our means, finding out that we can save a heck more money each month without actually doing much different!
Don’t get me wrong – I am by no means perfect (not even close, and I don’t think I’d want to be anyway!?), but since doing the whole house purchasing thing, I’ve really had to put my big girl pants on and do a bit of adulting – I’m still not always comfortable with this, particularly since in my head I’m still 19 (not even close anymore!)
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that we’ve had to budget our money to make sure that we can make our mortgage payments each month, and still have some money to, you know, eat and shit.
That seems to make sense right? Then how come we weren’t doing this all along?!
Don’t get me wrong, prior to our budget, we weren’t struggling for money each month, and our rent/bills were all paid on time. I didn’t have a credit card or any loans (apart from Student Loan – but is that really debt?!) and Albert only had 1 credit card which he rarely used and a student loan.
So, I’ve decided to write some blog posts to let you into our budgeting lifestyle and the reasoning behind this.
Please feel free to ask any questions, I’ll try to be as transparent as possible (within reason of course).
